Kitchen extension

The objective here was to upgrade this house by replacing the relatively small kitchen and reception room adjoining it, with a large kitchen/family room. This was achieved by means of extending out to the rear as well as removing an internal wall.

The rear elevation as originally built.

Inside - spotlights provide unobtrusive but evenly spread light (fitted with energy saving bulbs of course)

Supporting walls were removed in the construction process, but the structural steel members which took their place, were designed to allow for flush ceilings below - helping to create the desired 'Wow factor'. Folding sliding doors and roof windows ensure that plenty of natural light reaches the interior. Also, much easier access to the garden is achieved.

Vaulted ceilings in the extended part accentuate the space created

Heating the room is accomplished by means of a 'feature' radiator on the central column as well as electric under-floor elements.
